The Challenge
Asempe Kitchen is a West African restaurant in Ithaca, New York. It’s one of a kind in the area, with bold branding and a vibrant story. But their website didn’t reflect any of that. The site felt generic and disconnected from the energy and personality of the business. None of their strong visual branding came through, and they didn’t have the tools they needed to sell online or promote their events.
They needed a site that matched the power of what they were building and support to actually reach people.
What We Did
This project was part rebuild, part launch strategy. We kept the existing platform but redesigned the homepage to reflect the brand more clearly and integrate visual elements that made the site feel alive and personal. From there, we expanded the site’s functionality and built out systems to support sales and growth.
Here’s what we focused on:
Redesigned the homepage to integrate branding and bring the business’s personality to life
Built an online store so they could take food orders through the site, expanding from in-person only to online sales
Created a dedicated page for ticketed events to support seasonal offerings and special dinners
Built a Press page to highlight local and national media coverage
Ran their email marketing and social media strategy for two years, growing their list and online following
Set up and optimized their Google Business profile to support local visibility and reviews
